  • Hello,

You can use database mirroring on SQL Server Data Center, Enterprise, Business Intelligence and Standard edition on SQL Server 2005 SP1 and with no service pack needed on SQL Server 2008 and later. Please note Data Center is no longer available since SQL Server 2012 and Business Intelligence exists sin SQL Server 2012.

SQL Server Workgroup Edition, Web and Express Edition can all be used as witness only with no service pack needed.

    Hope this helps.

NO only for 2005 Sp1 was required. for other versions SP is not required as prerequisite.

But I strongly suggest you to Apply latest SP on whatever version you are using. You would avoid any unnecessary bug you might face
