Error Restoring Page - SharePoint 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I couldn't find any resources on this, so bear with me..... I currently have a page where I want to restore to a previous version. I've tried two methods:

    1. Go to version history, find the version I want, hit the drop down menu, and click "Restore". I get an error that can't be displayed because of web.config settings.
    2. Go to version history, find the version I want, hit the drop down menu, and click "View". I can see the last version, and it's what I want. I go to the top, to "Pages" tab, and want to hit "Restore to this item" (or something similar), but it's greyed out. I figured it was because I hadn't checked out the page, so I did and it's still greyed out, saying I don't have permission, yet I'm on an admin account. Are there some settings I'm missing?

Thank you for your time :)

  • Hi  ,

According to your description, my understanding is that you encountered error when you try to restore a previous version page in the site page library version history.

For restoring a previous version, you need at least the Contribute permission level. Could you try to add your account into Members Group and see the result?

Also could you please provide detail error message of ULS log  to determine the exact cause of the error?

For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS
