MS Word "upgrade" lost all my macros RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a document that is vital to my job.  I wrote some simple macros that would "select and copy" sections of text so all I had to do was click the macro at the top of the document and then paste the test into my case.  It saved a tremendous amount of time and hassle.  My company recently upgraded to Windows 7 and the new version of Word has lost my macros.  I tried changing the security settings, but they weren't there.

They're going to copy a template file from my old machine over to the new one so hopefully that will restore them, but otherwise, any suggestions would be appreciated!

****the guy came back with the template file and I just had to use the "add ins" tab...so all is well.  Just wanted to throw that out there in case anyone else had that issue.

  • The file with personal macros in Word named normal.dot and in new versions >=2007 XML format normal.dotm

you can find it in your profile path:  c:\Users\<your profile name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\

Check your last profile from old instalation.
