Power Pivot for Excel 2010 and 2013 share workbook

Question
-
Hello,
We have:
- Power Pivot for Excel 2010 and
- Power Pivot for Excel 2013
We don’t want to upgrade all machines for Excel 2013, but we want to share workbooks, e.g. open/change/ close same workbook in Excel 2010 and Excel 2013.
Is it possible?
What are the options to do this?
Thanks
TK

Hi tLkRpt01,
From what I've experienced, when you open the workbooks created in Power Pivot for Excel 2010 in Excel 2013, you are prompted to upgrade the Power Pivot model contained. Once it's been upgraded, Excel 2010 isn't able to read the model anymore.
You can either maintain two versions of the Power Pivot workbook (Excel 2010 and 2013) to guarantee that both versions of Excel can open it, or use Power Pivot for SharePoint 2013 to remove the dependency on the installed version of Excel (which I appreciate will be the least feasible option if you don't already have the infrastructure).
Please see the following Official Microsoft Office help articles for further details:
Version compatibility between Power Pivot Data Models in Excel 2010 and Excel 2013
Power Pivot error: “This workbook has a Power Pivot data model created using a previous version of the Power Pivot add-in. You’ll need to upgrade this data model with Power Pivot in Microsoft Excel 2013”
Upgrade Power Pivot Data Models to Excel 2013
Hope this helps,
Michael
