Two Active Directory using same SharePoint RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a SharePoint connected to an active directory (AD1). The new requirement is to connect another active directory(AD2) to the existing SharePoint. The Active directory guy has performed a two-way trust between domains. So now what are the steps that we should do to achieve our goal ?

  • If new domain with 2 way trust is outside the forest SharePoint is in, it will not automatically resolve the users. You should configure people picker using stsadm command.

    stsadm -o setproperty

       -propertyname peoplepicker-searchadforests

-propertyvalue <valid list of forests or domains>

       [-url] <URL>

  • Hi,

If two way trust is set between the domain so you should be able to resolve trusted domain users in site people picker for assigning permissions.

Also you can create a Sync connection in user profile application to import trusted domain users profile in SharePoint.

  • Hi,

By site people picker, I mean site permissions.

You can just browse the site.

Go to Site Settings - Site Permission.

Click on Grant Permission & find the user from your trusted domain.
