Not being able to enable AlwaysOn - SQL 2012 Evaluation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

We're working on a POC for AlwaysOn and readable replicas, but we're hitting an issue while trying to enable the AlwaysOn High Availability feature of SQL 2012.

I'm following the steps on this link, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff878259.aspx, but when I get to the AlwaysOn High Availability tab, I see the following information:

The AlwaysOn Availability Groups feature requires the x86(non-WOW) or x64 Enterprise Edition of SQL Server 2012 (or later version) running on Windows Server 2008 (or later version) with WSFC hotfix KB 2494036 installed. This SQL Server edition and/or Windows Server System does not meet one or more of the requirements.

For more information about pre requisites, restriction and recommendations for AlwaysOn Availability Groups, see SQL Books Online.

The only problem here is that I'm running an Enterprise version of SQL 2012 (Evaluation), on a Windows Server 2008 R2 x64. I don't understand what the problem is.

Also, I did install the hotfix mentioned, which installed the "Data-Tier App Framework"

Have you guys seeing this issue? Can someone help?

  • In one of my lab machine, I was able to resolve the issue by applying KB 976097 and KB 2616514. This is also mentioned in the link shared by Sean.

KB 2687741 is missing on the Portuguese AlwaysOn Pre Requisites page:

  • Correction to my original question. I'm running Windows Enterprise 2008 SP2. Is that the problem?

  • Most of the hotfixes on this list are not applicable to my system.

I attempted to apply all of them, and only KB 2578103 and DACFramerwork were applied.

  • I am missing one in the list:

Windows6.0-KB2494036-x64... That is a prerequisite for AlwaysOn.

  •    How do I enable AlwaysOn high availability within the Configuration manager, it is giving the following message requires the x86 (non-Wow) or x64 Enterprise Edition of SQL Server 2012 (or later version) with WSFC hotfix KB 2494036 installed, and I am using Windows Server 2008r2 sp1 with SQL Server 2014 and applied to the requested hotfix, most did not work, one would have any idea what you can do to solve this problem?
