JSON events with varying schema RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can ASA handle JSON events with varying schema? That is, all the events are in a class hierarchy, and all are derived ultimately from a common base class that has a subclass discriminator in it. The fields in an event are determined by the subclasses they belong to. These are serialized into JSON and sent to an Event Hub.

    Is this a supported scenario?

  • Hi,

ASA can deal with flexible input JSON schema. However if your query depends of specific fields, you may want to be sure the field are present (e.g. test if they are not NULL), or have specific logic to handle the different types of schemas. For example, you can use CASE, different steps in your queries, or add some UDF to parse the input messages.

Let us know if you have any further question.

    Thanks,

    JS
