Email the excel workbook once it is updated RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Friends,

There is an excel workbook published in sharepoint, which basically is a pivot table sheet based on the Powerpivot data. It is scheduled to refresh every day.

Now the requirement comes like that customers hope to get the excel attachment once the  data is refresh in the workbook.

How to archive this requirement? any comments, Thanks

  • I dont think that's possible - sharepoint does scheduled refresh - and that refresh is just an action of "refresh" - your workbook could very well remain the same.

This is not possible for the same reason that PowerPivot doesn't provide a programmatic way to refresh.

  • Derek,

If you are talking about the sharepoint scheduled refresh, like every hour - yes you will receive that an alert that refresh has happened.

However, that refresh doesn't mean anything has changed in your workbook.

  • Hello Chu,

Are you saying even the data refresh can not trigger the "Alert me"?
