  • Question

  •

I have two databases data1(Express 2005) and data2( Enterprise 2005). Data1 is a subset of Data2. Now beginning from that state any changes to either database should be reflected on both of them.

Now what's my best solution to accomplish this considering one is the subset of other??

    Thanks

  • You cannot apply any high availability solutions using Sql Server Express edition. It will be better if you could change it to Enterprise edition. Moreover Sql Express edition has maximum db size of 4 GB. In your case you can go for Merge replication in Sql Server 2005 as you want both to be updated if any changes on either of them. • High availability solutions are not supported in SQL Express editions.

Refer the below link under High Availability section.

If your transactions are too less, then you can create a DML trigger and pass the values via linked server to the data1 server.
