Monitoring SQL Elastic Pools RRS feed

  • Question

  • Looking for some guidance on how best to monitor Azure SQL Elastic Pools. Monitoring has so many components to it, not sure what the best path is. Here is the scenario:

Customer uses multiple SQL Elastic pools with a number of databases in each pool (some may have hundreds of databases). These databases are frequently created and destroyed. They are looking to monitor these pools and databases for performance issues (CPU, timeouts, etc.) and they want it to work in a manner that allows the monitoring to produce alerts based on either metrics or perhaps logs. The particular challenge is how to use Azure Monitor to automatically recognize the new databases that get created? I think the challenge they currently have is that each time a database gets created, they setup monitoring for each one individually, which is clearly not very efficient.

    What are my options here?
