how to get Service Number in Service Metadata Authoring Wizard

    Question

  • Hi,

I am trying to figure out what GUID I should use for AT&T to create Service Metadata for Mobile Broadband App.

I have seen many documents and links which tell about the service metadata.

But I couldn't find out what service number is for AT&T. it should be like a2365322-806a-4d42-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx.

    Any help???

    Thanks

  • SmileEver,

You will need to contact the network provider for which you are writing the application on their behalf.

  • I have created several random GUIDs & ServiceMetaData packages
for testing purposes of apps I wrote, then manually installed them
without any issues. These apps will never get distributed through the
app store and are intended for internal testing or demo purposes. Anyone
using them would need to have the OS in TestMode and place these -ms
files in the correct folders on their computer.

    It's my
understanding the ServiceProviders will be the only ones who can
"officially" provide a ServiceMetaData packages for apps distributed in
the App Store, and Microsoft would check the GUIDs at the time they
submit the app and -ms files.  Also the only apps that can use certain
WinRT api calls for MobileBroadband would be those developed by
"official" Service Providers or their partners but I could be wrong on
    this part.

    Hope this helps
