Possible to use Bing Maps AJAX control for iOS without phonegap? (armv7s issue) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm building a native app for iOS, that is using the Bing Maps iOS control for a part of it.
However, this will not build on any armv7s devices.

Is it possible to insert the ajax control into my native app?  I'm NOT going to rewrite the app in phonegap -- that's just not a possibility.

I still need to be able to add pins and overlays, get directions, etc.

  • Hi. Most people use the Bing Maps V7 AJAX control for developing mobile applications. This works especially well on iOS devices. You can simply drop a web app into a WebBrowser control or use PhoneGap which will also expose some lower level functionality to the browser for you and also give you a cross platform to work with.

  • Hi Richard!

Thanks for responding so quickly!  Thankfully, I found a way to make it work, by removing armv7s from the build targets.  I've got too much stuff to do to learn how to write a web app just for the map section of the app, but that seems like something I should look into in case I need to do this again in the future.

    Thanks again.
