Trace Activity by linked servers RRS feed

  • Question

  •  Hi, I came across with an interesting situation where I have to find out all the linked server calls (inbound) to one of our SQL Servers. Is there any way we can trace this linked server activity on the server that is coming from other servers? I can think of few ways to track outbound traffic to other servers via linked servers but can't figure out the other way. Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!

Answers

  • Filter on applicationname='Microsoft SQL Server' You can filter in profiler, trace or Xevents on application name.

That should help narrow it down.

  • Profiler, Trace or XEvents can all do this.  You just need to identify which connections to monitor.
