Proxy Settings for Webview RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to set a proxy for a WebView in Windows Store Applications? I looked at the APIs but have not found a way to do this.

  • Hello,

You do not have control over the proxy settings of WebView control. It will use the IE proxy settings. What scenario are you considering when you would want your WebView to use a different proxy than what the default browsing experience with IE gives you?

    Thanks,

    Prashant.

  • I wanted to create a very simple browser application that allows the user to set a proxy separate from IE. However I understand that WebView is not meant to act as a full fledged browser.

Would it be possible to set the IE proxy settings programatically in a Windows Store application?

  • No, unfortunately there is no such functionality available for a Windows Store app. If you want to build a browser type of product, you should really look into the topic of "Developing a new experience enabled Desktop Browser: that is discussed here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/hh465413.aspx
