Basic question: how to open a XLAM file automatically with a Macro enable excel file; or open it after the excel is open RRS feed

  • Question

  • I know it basic...been asked before.  Just having a bit of trouble understanding. Thx in advance.

I have a folder with a XLAM file and a macro enabled excel file (2 separate files)

    1. i can open the XLAM file first; then open the spreadsheet.

    2. if i open the spreadsheet and go to my developer tab...I have import but no "open".

I like the fact that the files are separate.  But can i simply have open the spreadsheet and have the VB code also open?

  • Re:  "open a xlam file"

Excel add-ins (.xla and .xlam) files are not opened.  They are loaded or installed.
    To do that...
click the Add-ins button on the Developer tab.
in the displayed list, checkmark your add-in file
(if you don't see it in the list, use the browse button, next to the list, to find it)
Now your add-in will load everytime excel is started - please note that add-in workbooks are not visible.

Alternate Instructions can be found here...  http://peltiertech.com/installing-an-add-in-in-excel-2007/
