How to create a project with specified [Create date] RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are migrating projects from our legacy system to Project Server 2013.

We'd like to preserve project creation date during project migration.

Is there any way of how to perform it?

  • The project start date shouldn't change. Are you referring to the date the .mpp file is created? If so you probably need some VBA code to read the date and store it in a custom field, or have PMs do this manually before or after importing.

  • I would like to set the [Created] inner field during project creation by using PSI or CSOM.

I'm talking about Project Server (on-premise).

  • PSI or CSOM can do what you want, but as this is a once off migration, it would be very time consuming and expensive(if you need to get programmer support).

VBA would be 10 times quicker or the manual way of emailing all PMs would work as well.

So what creation date are you talking about? Project doesn't store one, so the only creation date I can think of is the file creation date. Project Start date should come across unchanged, but if it isn't then there is something unusual happening. Solve that problem and the rest of the problems might go away.
