Unable to delete storage

    Question

  • I am not able to delete the storage. It give me following error message :

    Failed to delete blob 'vhds/xxx.vhd'. Error: 'There is currently a lease on the blob and no lease ID was specified in the request.'

    I have already deleted all other resources including the VM its complaining about. :(

  • Hi TS_Prasanna,

    In the "Old Portal" Click on Virtual Machines -> Disks.

    This will show you a list of disks as well as machines they are potentially attached to. You can delete them directly from here and once done you will be able to delete the Storage Account.

  • Seems to be a common issue. Do you happen to still have the disk, for which the blob has the lease? You can look through your disks with:

    get-azuredisk

  • Thanks Brent, In addition I also used a cloud explorer tool to break the lease. That helped.
