VS2008 to VS2010? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are currently running the professional version of 2008

and want to use VS2010. We have developed for both windows

    and web business applications.

Were using framework 3.5, and would use 4.0.

    A few questions.

Can both 2008 and 2010 be on the same machine?

Is there a migration wizard from 2008 to 2010?

Were also planning on going to Windows 7 64bit, currently have

WinXP 32 bit OS installed company wise. Any issues to look out for on this?

Any other advice or tips appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • "Can both 2008 and 2010 be on the same machine?"

YES, you can have both software installed on the same machine. Microsoft suggest to install first the previus version. In your case install first VS2008 and then VS2010.

"Is there a migration wizard from 2008 to 2010?"

you can migrate your project from 2k8 to 2010: just open your VS2008 project with VS2010

I don't think so, an x64 version of Win7 includes also 32bit components.
