Is there any way to change the key field that the AD Synch process uses in PS2010? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We understand that the AD Synch uses the userid & name field as the key field for matching resource records and updating them in PS 2010.

We have a requirement to pull in additional HR information from a system that uses a Employee_ID and also feed our timesheet data to a finance system that also maintains information based on Employee_ID.

It would be ideal in our case if we could capture Employee_ID in the AD synch and have that process use that field to match on, since UserID can't be relied on as unique.

Has anyone done this?  Thanks!!!  Kathy

  • Hi Kathy--

As you already know that AD Synch process uses the  sAMAccountName as unique key for user sync to ProjectServer & AD. The out of the box active directory sync for Project Server only moves a fixed set of fields from AD to Project Server. As far as I know , you can not modify the sync process based on the new key but other set of data can be synchronized to project server resource level custom fields.

The ResourceSync service can be run after the out of the box AD sync to move the additional AD fields. You can modify the Project Server 2007 AD/Resource Sync Utility . It should work for PS2010 too. You can get the HR information system's additional AD fields (Employee_ID)source in custom fields.

    Hope that helps.
