Need help for NDIS miniport driver development for PCIe device RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We happened to develop a NDIS miniport function driver for a PCIe 3.0 device on windows 7 64 bit. We have certain basic queries and please provide us inputs.

    1. Our understanding is that PCIe bus driver is already present as part of windows 7 OS installation to PC. And it is seen as "PCI bus" under system device section in device manager. Is this right?

    2. And this PCIe bus driver already took care of configuring root complex of PCIe controller at host PC and NDIS miniport driver as a function driver only need to operate on end point device which will be connected through PCIe slot. Is this right?

    3. Regarding integrating miniport driver(as modem Adapter) to bus driver will happen through HW id mentioned through INF file. Is this right?

    4. Installing miniport driver will happen by "update driver" option for unknown device under other device section once end point device is connected. Is this right?

Could you please reply us mentioning is our understanding is right or any further things to be still taken care by NDIS miniport driver?
