How do I determine the highest resolution aerial image tile level available at a given location? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm using aerial images extracted from tiles in Bing maps and would always like to get the highest resolution at any given point.  I understand how the tile system works with levels 1-20 etc.  From what I can see the only way to determine the highest detail image is to just progressively try and download an image from a child tile and see if it's valid which isn't very optimal.

I've looked at the metadata query results, and also the HTTP headers from metadata and image queries and can't see any useful information.

    Thanks!
