What Microsoft's operating system for .NET developer? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am buying new desktop computer only for development purposes.
Machine is almost ready, but I am considering what Microsoft's OS will be the most suitable for .NET developer.

    Machine configuration:
    Intel Core i7 920 2,66 GHz BOX,
    Asus P6T Intel X58,
    6 GB RAM DDR3,
GeForce with CUDA 9600 GT Gigabyte 1GB HDMI & DVI (PCI-E) Silent Cell,
    3 x WD Caviar Black 500GB 32MB cache SATA-II in RAID5 matrix,
    24'' LG Flatron ( 1920 X 1200)

The system should be 64-bit, because it must be able to use 6GB RAM and 1TB HDD.
    But what of os?
    1) Windows XP 64bit?
    2) Vista Ultimate 64bit?
    3) Windows Server 2003?
    4) Windows 7?
    5) Windows 2008 server?

I am using many of .NET related technologies:
.net 3.5, asp.net, wpf, wcf, wwf, enttities framework, asp.net mvc, silverlight, sql server, IIS.

    Thanks in advance!!!
    Johnny
