Platform Builder connectivity with SBOOT over Serial (Handshake ?) RRS feed

  • Question

  • hello everyone,

I am trying to download kernel image through serial using PB VS2008 to a device.

When I send the serial download request and accept an DLACK from PB I get KTIL 0xAA instead and PB stops downloading with failure.

I am not using hardware flow control between the two devices, is the Hardware flow absolutely required? for download to work.

Let me know if you have any insight into this.

    Thanks,

    Haider

  • That's a very difficult thing to do. The download of a ROM image, even at 115kbaud takes forever. Are you sure you can't get Ethernet download working? The only problem I ever had with serial download, other than hours of waiting, was actually assuring that the bootloader was setting the serial parameters correctly to match the desktop.

As for handshake/flow control, I would not turn this off. You're talking about MB of information running at a high baud rate. The likely difference in processor speed of the writer (your PC: fast), and the reader (your target device: slow) means that overfilling the buffer is a distinct possibility.
