When MS DTC restarts RRS feed

    Hi all,

    We're setting up an SQL cluster, using Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2. Apart from the discussion how to arrange the MSDTC resources (interesting as it may be), we have another concern. When the MS DTC resource restarts (for whatever reason), do the associated SQL services need to be restarted too? In other words: is there downtime for the applications that do not use DTC?

    Pieterjan,

    If your MS DTC is located in a separate clustered resource group, it should not impact the applications that do not use MS DTC. However due to enviornment specific, it is recommended that you first perform a test in your test environment to verify this.
