Storage vs StorageClient namespace RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am brand new to WindowsAzure. I created a simple storage service using classes from the MicrosoftWindowsAzure.Storage namespace. My entities derive from MicrosoftWindowsAzure.Storage.Table.TableEntity. I defined my own repository class and I use MicrosoftWindowsAzure.Storage.Table.TableOperation for crud operations. My simple storage service is functioning to satisfaction, so I decided to do further research into what Azure has to offer. Then I read about TableServiceEntity and TableServiceContext from the Microsoft.WindowsAzure.StorageClient namespace. The TableServiceContext could replace my home grown repository class with no need to use the TableOperation class for crud operations. Reading about this has confused me though.

Why are there two different, but similar namespaces?

Is the intention that you use one over the other?

Are they intended to serve completly different purposes?

Why would I choose one over the other?

    Sincerely,

    dustfinger.
