Regarding Java Client API to access Azure Monitor Metrics

    Question

  • Hi,
I have got this email from the website,
have also tried with some example,
    for example, for a
    /subscriptions/{SomeValue}/resourceGroups/{SomeValue}/providers/Microsoft.Compute/virtualMachines/vmname1
Can I get data for multiples vms in the query.
    does this support
    compute/virtual machenes/*
    something like this.
    thanks,
    Kalpa

  • Hello Kalpa,

    Thanks for reaching out!

It looks like you're meaning to retrieve metrics for multiple resources by resource type (VMs, in this case).

We have the List Metrics REST API within Azure Monitor, but that fetches metric values only for a specific resource by its resourceUri.

That being said, if the requirement is to be alerted (via email, say) based on metrics for multiple resources, you can now create a Metric Alert that spans across multiple resources in the same region, meaning, you will be able to set up a single metric alert rule that monitors:

    • A list of virtual machines in one Azure region
    • All virtual machines in one or more resource groups in one Azure region
    • All virtual machines in a subscription in one Azure region

Please check this blog post that gives more detail about leveraging this new feature and its benefits. Feel free to revert if you have queries!
