Interop text property problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are using Interop assemblies to get the RTL text of a cell. The  text property returned value is different from that of the value shown in the cell. I have given below the sample link that we have tried at our side.

  • The data in the cell is Unicode  (16 bits) and not text (8 bit).  You may want to search the web for a solution to reading unicode data from an excel cell.

  • Text is what you see and Value specifies the actual value in the cell. For e.g. Put 200000 in a cell and check the Text and Value properties. Both will return 200000. Now format the cell (Right-Click >> Format Cells... >> Number Tab >> Number) and choose the Number format with thousand's separator. The display will now change to 2,00,000.00. At this point, Text will return 2,00,000.00 and Value will return 200000.

  • Hi All,

    Thank you for the reply.

We could see the Arabic language special characters  are positioned wrongly while reading the cell value from excel attached in the above.

Please copy the cell text ("A6" cell value) and paste into the Notepad the double quote characters are moved to the right side of the text.

Can anyone suggest how to re-position the special characters in an arabic language

    Thanks,
