Windows Mobile 6.5 and MediaSense RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
Is it possible to disable MediaSense on a Windows Mobile 6.5 device. I have tried setting the DisableDHCPMediaSense registry key to 1, configuring the Wifi adaptor for static IP and rebooting, however attempts to connect to a WLAN Access Point result in the device successfully associating but the IP stack is not configured with the correct static IP address and DNS entries, meaning the connection is unusable. I have tried the alternative of configuring the WLAN for DHCP and programmatically calling IPHelper API Release/Renew address functions these functions return success but the WLAN adaptor still has no address and I see no DHCP requests on the WLAN AP. For now I would be happy to understand whether this is a device specific issue or a misunderstanding of MediaSense on my part.
