PCIe Gen 2 drivers performance RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi,

I am working on a driver for X8 Gen2 PCIe device. The main purpose of this driver is to showcase high speed data handling capabilities of our IP core in an FPGA. I have developed a driver for the same chip in linux and i see a throughput of 26 Gbps in both directions. In windows 7 I have never been able to get beyond 14 Gbps on the same chip.

Please let me know if anyone has worked on high performance PCIe drivers and saw throughput numbers north of 15-20 Gbps. If you know any PCIe Gen 3 devices which are supported on Windows, please provide their details.

  • you have to be a bit more descriptive in the code you are using in the driver to program the hardware, what type of locking you are using, etc. what type of perf analysis have you run? have you measured ISR or DPC time for instance?
