intermittent 404 to soap endpoints. RRS feed

  • Question

  • From our london office, we seem to sometimes get http 404 response codes when accessing the virtualearth end points.

my account doesn't let me paste links - but its to the GeoCodeService end points in particular

It seems to happen around ~10-20% of the time.

    Error message we receive:

    Server Error

404 - File or directory not found

The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable

We don't get this from our US offices, so I suspect there's maybe something awry with a european node.

    Please can you investigate.

  • I suspect you are using a basic or trial key. If that is the case then you are likely making a lot of requests and being rate limited. I was only able to reproduce this using a basic key and making a lot of requests in a short period of time.

  • Log into the Bing Maps portal and click on "Create or view keys". In the page that loads scroll down and you should see a list of all your keys. Check to see if they say trial, basic or enterprise beside them. If they do say enterprise then you should report your issue to the Bing Maps Enterprise support team rather than using the forums as all Enterprise customers have access to the support team. You will see their email address listed on the left side column of the Bing Maps portal if your account is an Enterprise account.

  • I'm currently investigating this and am noticing similar issues with the REST services. I have escalated this to our development team for investigation.

  • Hi Richard,

How can I have our key verified? as I believe we have a contract with Bing Maps.

    thanks
