IDN Translation doesn´t work with letter "ß" RRS feed

  • Question

  • # IDN Translation doesn´t work with letter "ß" in Powershell (code is pretty similar to c#)
    # http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/vstudio/system.globalization.idnmapping

    fuß.de -> xn--fu-hia.de

    The conversion is performed according to the current IDNA standard (RFCs 5890-5894), with support for Unicode 5.2 and with the use of IDNA Compatibility Processing in "nontransitional" mode from the Unicode Technical Standard # 46

    $idn = new-object System.Globalization.IdnMapping
    $idn.GetAscii("fuß.de") #-> fuss.de is wrong
    $idn.getunicode("xn--fu-hia.de ")#->schould change to fuß.de
    works for spanish or french letters but not ß, is this a Bug?

  • is there some official note from Microsoft?

    found that in connect.Microsoft.com:

    See http://blogs.msdn.com/b/shawnste/archive/2013/09/09/how-does-ie-handle-the-idn2008-rfcs.aspx for discussion.

    since it would cause incompatibilities with older browsers they seem not to change it in the near future...
