Upgrading TFS 2012 to TFS 2017 RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I have TFS 2012 with database server of 2012 Enterprise.   I would like to upgrade to TFS 2017 with a database server of 2016 standard.

Any suggestions and/OR article on how to proceed to ensure a seamless upgrade process?

  • The upgrade guide can be found here: https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/docs/setup-admin/tfs/upgrade/get-started What features do you have? e.g. reporting, SharePoint, project integrartion?

  • I don't have any integration such as SSRS or Project integration however  I do have minimal SharePoint integration which is not really used.

I am looking to take advantage of the Build Integration feature for TFS 2017.

  • Hi hhoward,

    Thank you for posting here.

You need to in-place upgrade your SQL Server version from 2012 to 2016 before you upgrade the TFS2017. After that run the upgrade wizard in TFS, you could refer to the following link for more detailed information:

  • I am wanting to do the same thing, however, I am using Reporting Services and SharePoint integration.  Is there an upgrade plan for including these services as well?
