What is the best way to create development environment? RRS feed

  • Question

  • What is the best way to do this?  Should I just add another SharePoint and/or SQL servers to our existing domain?

Or should I create another development domain and setup trust between them, so the contractor could access it from the outside?

    What would be the best?

    Thank you.

    Thank you. Eric.

  • I guess there are different opinions on this but from my point of view it's safer to do development in isolation in your own domain.  If you have external developers that you don't want as members of your domain you can set up claims authentication and eg. use AD LDS or a en external Identity PRovider like Microsoft Live ID .

    Here are some guidelines:

  • Hi,

As per my perspective, if we have separate development environment for each developers, it would be convenient for developers . The reason could be when one developer deploying solution package the IIS will restart, so it will affect others work. If they are having different environment, it will not affect others work.

I would share my own experience over here, we are having 13 members development team. Since work progress concern, we are having different dev. server. May be, the below link will help you
