SharePoint Online workflow error handling RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have SharePoint Online workflow instances associated with multiple lists and multiple sub sites. Will there be a possibility of getting a notification if any of those workflows got suspended due to error?

    Many Thanks,

  • Hi sudesh,

From your description, you want to get a notification if there is an error for workflows instance.

By default, there is no try/catch in SharePoint Designer workflows, you must learn to use the history logging mechanisms to your advantage.

You can create a view in the hidden Workflow History list and filter the items using Event Type number(10 or 3) based on your requirement, then set an alert for the view.

  • How would you do that in on-prem installs?
