  • Let's start off by not using well-known acronyms.  What is a PWD query? Does it mean "password"?  That doesn't help, because the term "SQL password query" doesn't have a common meaning either.  What is APS?

Perhaps your best bet is to simply search the internet or forums.  Renaming a column (or any other object) is a frequent topic.

  • Scott, I guess it's a typo and PDW = Parallel Datawarehouse with APS = Analytics Platform System is meant.

  • Normally you should use SP_RENAME, but I don't see it in APS documentation so I guess it’s not available. Since RENAME only applies to database and table so in your case the only option left is drop and recreate table.

  • SQL PDW?

Have you tried RENAME OBJECT [dbo.OriginalTableName] TO [dbo.NewTableName]

  • Rename Object works when Renaming Tables,

I did not find any method to Rename a column, APS documentation only explains renaming tables and not column.
