According to your description, you are unable to configure SSRS 2008 R2 in SharePoint 2013 integrated mode, but you want to run reports in SharePoint 2013, right?
As you know, the combination of the SQL Server 2008 R2 and SharePoint 2013 is not supported to be installed in SharePoint mode. Based on the article you mentioned, SharePoint 2013 integrated mode can be only configured with SQL Server 2014 or SQL Server
2012 SP1. So in your scenario, if you want to run reports in SharePoint 2013 integrated mode, you should upgrade existing SQL Server 2008 R2 instance to SQL Server 2014 or SQL Server 2012 SP1. For more information, please refer to this article:
