VSTO Designer RRS feed

  • Question

  • The VSTO designer has not worked with the latest version of Excel for over 6-months now.  When is this going to be fixed. For that matter, when are you going to create an Excel plug-in framework that does not rely on COM?

  • Hi Bob Brockman,

on this forum, we just provide a technical support for Excel automation related issues.

we are not connected directly with Excel User Voice or with Excel developer Team.

so we don't know when they will fix this issue.

you can ask this query on User Voice.

    Excel User Voice

all we can do for you is , we can suggest you to use a work around for this issue.

the work around is to downgrade your MS Office till last working version with VSTO.

currently we have only this work around to avoid this issue.

Excel VSTO addin and Excel VSTO Workbook both uses the same interop assembly.

but issue is occur with VSTO Workbook.

    Excel Addin will create successfully.

we hope Excel developers solve this issues very soon.

  • Hello Bob,

Are you talking about the Ribbon designer? Do you develop an application-level add-in?

Take a look at Add-in Express which provides its own designer and it doesn't depend on the currently installed Office version. However, Add-in Express allows creating only application-level add-ins.
