Microsoft Redistributables... What does it for? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all of you,

    Primary platform: Windows 7 Ultimate. Microsoft Silverlight  Version: 5.1.10411.0. Language: VB.

    I am developing with Visual Studio 2010 (both SilverLigth and Desktop projects using VB) and I was wondering about a bunch of Redistributables installed on my computer:

    Microsoft Visual C ++ 2008 Redistributable x86 9.0.2

    Microsoft Visual C ++ 2008 Redistributable x86 9.0.3

    Microsoft Visual C ++ 2008 Redistributable x86 9.0.5

    And so on...

    What does it for? can I delete them? I never use C ++ at all

    Thanks in adavance,

  • Hi,

    the c++ redistributable is the c++ runtime. You should not uninstall them because you never know which installed applications depend on it.

    With kind regards,
