  • Most macros created in Word 2003 should run without modification in Word 2007.

  • Ah yes - custom menus and toolbars will be displayed in the Add-Ins tab of the ribbon. It's easiest to instruct users to look there.

There is no way to convert code that creates a menu to code that creates a ribbon tab - the code required for the latter is completely different (and quite complicated). Code to customize the ribbon will have to be created from scratch. See https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc501317(v=office.12).aspx

  • Hello krismev,

In previous versions of Office, developers used the command bars object model to build the Visual Basic code that modified the Fluent UI. In the 2007 release of Office, this legacy code continues to work in most cases without modification. However, changes made to toolbars in Microsoft Office 2003 now appear on an Add-Ins tab. The type of customization that appears depends on the original design of the add-in.

Since the Fluent UI is implemented from Office 2007, please visit the links below for more information:

    Regards,

    Celeste

  • Hello,

How do you customize the UI in Office2003? I don't think your could simply copy macro and VBA project to an Office 2007 document. You need to append XML markup to the document package. Would you get any error if you check "Show add-in user interface errors" in Word Options -> Advanced?
