Custom App for Corporate Network RRS feed

  • I have been asked to develop an app for windows phone to work in our corporate network, but how do I deploy it to the phones without going through windows marketplace or letting people only in our corporate network download it from the marketplace?

    Any answers are greatly appreciated

  • Currently, you can publish the application on the Windows Phone Store as hidden.  You would have to send your corporate users the link to the application so they could install it.

    Microsoft has announced that with Windows Phone 8, there would be some more improvements for the corporate support, but we will have to wait for more official announcements.

  • One thing you can do is submit it as a beta test and include only those you want to use it on the list. Within a few days they would be able to download it (and only them). You can also update the user list as needed in the future. However, beta tests are limited to 100 users and do eventually expire. You would have to submit it again every few months and have them re-download it every few months if you did this.

    Just remember that beta tests do not go through certification and you would want to be very careful about publishing an app that was buggy or could cause problems on your users' phones.
