What of EntLib 4.1 RRS feed

  • Question

A developer first used EnterLib at its version 1.x and has been out of touch with it since. Now he found its version 5 is coming out.

He plans to get back to it. Would EntLib 4.1 be where he should start now, if he has VS2008 and SQL2008? Would he have to learn any of the previous and next versions or use all their blocks, or only DAAB with web sites he is working on?.

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

If the developer has the basic idea of enterprise library then he need not to learn all the previous version of Enterprise Library. He can move on with Enterprise Library 4.1. Some features new there so he can only learn those things.

    Hi thuhue ,

You can get start from the following link.

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd203099.aspx#EntLib4p1lpGettingStarted

SqlDataSource Class represents an SQL database to data-bound controls, so I think that's related to the EntLib 4.1, but It just needs a data type.

Enterprise Library consists of reusable software components that are designed to assist developers with common enterprise development challenges. It includes a collection of application blocks and a set of core features, such as object generation, configuration, and instrumentation mechanisms.

I hope it is helpful to you.

Please advise minimum steps to get started and rolling. Or isn't SqlDataSource a better option?

    Thanks.
