Template: Create a custom Silverlight-based project template in VS RRS feed

  • Question

  • I created few custom "Item Template" that are customized silverlight pages:

I want as well to create a custom project template for silverlight project in Visual Studio 2010.
    I want the following behavior:
When the VS user select that template:
1 - It will ask the user to select an "Item template" from the custom "Item template" I already created.

2 - After the user select the customized Item template, the project will run the build

Before I start reading about that, I have a question:
do you know what the best way to do that?
is it project template, or StarterKit?

    Or project template with wizard?

  • I'm not sure how much I'd appreciate a build operation being kicked off automatically each item I add anew item to a large project. But if this is a must have feature, you'll need to implement a custom IWizard based project wizard, and then do something like call DTE.ExecuteCommand("Build.BuildSolution","") from your IWizard.RunFinished implementation.
