Unnecessary Custom Build Step When File Unchanged? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am using a custom build step to make an executable turn a special text file into a .cpp file. This only has to be performed when the special text file has changed. The build step is "attached" to the file.

Unfortunately it runs the custom build step every time I compile, even though the file has not changed whatsoever. It also asks me if I want to load the .cpp file again because it has been changed of course. Since the file is large and takes time to compile, and visual studio keeps asking me questions, it is annoying.

Does anyone know how to get rid of this problem?

    Thanks a lot.
