  • Hi Carlo,

From the post history, I suppose you have Service Pack 2 for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 binary file installed, but I am not sure if you have run SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard after installation is completed.

If not, please click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard and finish the wizard.

If this is the first time you performing updating, please check the steps of Installation steps carefully before take the action plan.

If the update failed, please try to force a software update following the steps:

    1.       Open a Command Prompt window and at the command prompt change to the following directory:

    %COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft shared\Web server extensions\12\Bin

    2.       Type the following command:

psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait -force

If the update was successful, please continue to applying Service Pack 2 for Office SharePoint Server 2007.

If the update failed again, please let me know more information for further investigation:

    1.       You SharePoint farm topology.

    2.       The error log in Event Viewer.

    3.       The latest PSCDiagnostics log and update.log files in %COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Shared\Web server extensions\12\LOGS.

    4.       If you cannot identify the error from PSCDiagnostics log and update.log files, please upload them to the following workspace:

    Workspace URL: (https://sftasia.one.microsoft.com/ChooseTransfer.aspx?key=b2fec4b6-ddf2-4bfd-9985-da04eeb45135)

    Workspace Password: UlUmNtqL0

Let me know the result if possible.

  • Dear Mike,
thank you for your mail, I appreciate your help.
I haven't installed the language pack so I think it's not necessary to install the sp2 on point 2 and 4

the main problem is that I have the error message at point 1 when I install the wss3 service pack 2.
the file that I'm installing is : wssv3sp2-kb953338-x86-fullfile-en-us.exe

    Thank you
    Carlo

No indeed. What confused me was that you listed 2. and 4 as steps to take.

I'll leave you in the capable hands of Ammar for the rest.
