Customize edit for for multiple content types on a list (calendar) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a list (a calendar) with 4 content types declared:

    • Type 1 inherits from Event
    • Type 2 inherits from Type 1
    • Type 3 inherits from Type 1

These types are declared in SharePoint without development code. Type 2 and Type 3 declare new fields that simplify and extend the usage of Type 1.

I want to define custom edit forms for each of these types using SharePoint Designer (no InfoPath). SharePoint Designer let's you do this, but you can only specify one form as the default edit form.

When I select the item and then click on the edit button on the main list ribbon, then the default form opens.
When I click to open the item, and then click the edit button on the form, the original edit form opens (this one has a drop-down to let the user edit the content type - I definitely don't want users to change the content type).

How can I ensure that my custom edit form always opens?
