How to create service or interface which will be supported by Robotics studio RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Dear,

I have a micro controller board which measure temparature and control the AC.

I have make fixed logic inside the board with certain condition.

Now I want to control the system using robotics studio.

So How create service or inrface for my hardware.

    It has following functionalities

    1. Temp measurement
    2. RS 232
    3. Digital input/output
    4. PWM

I have build command for Temp, Digital I/o and PWM.

  • Presumably you can talk to your controller using RS-232. What you need to do is write a service that uses a serial port to send commands and receive data from the controller.

There are many ways to do this and you can find some examples in the sample code provided with MRDS. Most of the robots use virtual serial ports over Bluetooth.

If your service is dedicated to this device, then you can put all of the logic and the controller interface into the one service. However, if you want to make your code more general-purpose you might want to write a generic interface first, and the a specific implementation of it for your application. It all depends on whether you expect to re-use the code or not.

You might also want to look at the examples available from:

Look in the last couple of chapters. The sample code uses a serial port.
