Cannot Change Page Titles ? RRS feed

  • I need to alter some of the page titles in Expression Web 4, but it won't allow me to do it ?

  • Of course you can alter page titles.  Please explain what you mean by "EW won't allow you to do it". What have you tried?  Do you mean you don't know how to do it?

  • Are you using a template (DWT)? Granted, that should not be an issue if you're using one of EW's included templates, because IIRC they all have the <title> as an editable region, like this:

    <!-- #BeginEditable "doctitle" -->
       <title>About Us</title>
    <!-- #EndEditable -->

    But, if you're using a third-party template, or have removed the editable region comments from the <title>, then you will receive a warning when you try to save or preview the file, and your changes will not be saved.

    If you're using a template, make sure that the <title> element is still within an editable region as illustrated above. You will have to check in the actual source code; this will not show up or be editable if you try to use only the "Page Properties" dialog to change the title.
