How to Ignore Serial Number in 3rd part usb root hub driver? RRS feed

  • Question

  • During device testing, we attach many devices that are identical except for the serial numbers. How can I prevent Windows from asking to install a new driver every time a device is attached?

I've meet some issues when I set IgnoreSerialNumber[VIDPID] in regedit.

In XP Under USB2.0 Hub, devices in the specific vidpid would IngroeSerialNumber correctly, while Under USB3.0 Hub(in 3rd part driver) just don't work. windows will install driver for device in different SN on the same port.

Is there any way to approve the function via filterdriver or any other method?

  • Is this the usb3 stack in win8 or another OS? If not win8, this is a 3rd party stack and you need to talk to whomever wrote it.
