Deallocate unused .net memory? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!

We got a problem with Allocated - but unused memory in .net. We have analysed the w3wp.exe with Red Gate Memory profiler (ANTS) after a workload test and got the attatched result.

We wonder why there are 517 MB allocated, but unused, memory and if it's possible to limit or deallocate it.

We're planning on running a lot of app pools in a shared enviroment but it does not seems like .net is freeing the memory when it's necessary (system running low on memory).

We are using windows server 2012 and .net version 4.0.

    Any help appreciated.
