Errors with Creators Xbox Live Plugin

    General discussion

  • I am trying to make a Creators game in Unity with the Xbox Live Plugin, and I am having all sorts of problems.

I have dropped the XboxProfile prefab into my game, however I seem to very often encounter errors logging in. When I do an exception is thrown and the element simply stops working.  For example some of the errors just say "provider error xbox veto" or "User Already in map"

Will these errors go away after release? i.e. are they some side effect of the Xbox Development environment?

  • Hello,

To continue our investigation, can you provide the following information?

    1. Version of Unity Engine used
    2. Version of XBL Plugin being used
    3. Scripting runtime version being used
    4. Scripting backend being used
    5. Are they seeing the errors logging in when running in      the Unity editor or after building to UWP?

    Thank you,

  • Unity 2017.3

    XBL Plugin 1711

    Scripting Runtime 3.5

    Backend .NET

The only thing a bit unusual that I am doing is that this is a Local Multiplayer game.

I see these errors on the Xbox after building, there is a lot of then and they are really easy to reproduce. The problem seems to be that the way this plugin is authored if a sign in error occurs there is no code to catch it and then unity disables the script making future login attempts impossible. Here are some secnarios that break the plugin

Get presented with a login screen then back out of it.

Microsoft.Xbox.Services.XboxException: 'Xbox Live User object is required to be constructed by a Windows.System.User object for a multi-user application.'

Which you would expect except this breaks the plugin

Don't accept the xbox permission dialog, plugin broken.

Try to sign the same player into 2 controllers, breaks the plugin.

Signing in with a guest account seems to break the plugin

Xbox not responding in a timely fashion or simply denying the login.

Signing in with an account that does not have permission to play the game.

    Various Sign out scenarios.

Many of these are valid scenarios but the problem is the plugin can seem to recover from them in any reasonable way.
